Owlstown Newsletter #12: Small things
Hello Owlstowners!
A few years ago, I read this blog post by Austin Kleon that talks about the value of continuous progress. It is titled “Something small, every day”. Here’s a quote from the blog that is relevant to academic work.
Building a body of work (or a life) is all about the slow accumulation of a day’s worth of effort over time. Writing a page each day doesn’t seem like much, but do it for 365 days and you have enough to fill a novel.
New features
Speaking of daily progress, I added a bunch of improvements to Owlstown in the past several days.
Custom entry types
Entry types in Owlstown are based on BibTeX entry types. BibTeX entry types don’t include workshop papers. Your options for workshop papers are not descriptive: “Unpublished” or “Miscellaneous”. To improve on this, I added a field to customize the entry type.
Custom page titles
You can now edit the page title of the Publications page. I will add this feature for other pages also.
Publication PDFs
I made a mistake when I moved Publications to the new editor. I left out a way to upload a PDF. I added it back in.
